About the Course

First Lessons in Beekeeping is an introductory course for those interested in honey bees and the art of beekeeping.  The sessions, taught by local experienced beekeepers, include the necessary and practical information to establish and maintain a bee colony for personal pleasure and profit.  Each detailed session provides the participant with general beekeeping knowledge as well as basic beekeeping techniques.

NOTE:  Certification in the state program is encouraged but not required to keep bees in the state of SC. If you would like to become certified, you must be a member in good standing of the state association and take a written and practical exam.
